Back in the 60's and 70's there was ponds people fished on opening day when folks would be elbow to elbow filling up garbage bags with Rainbows.
Cricks had very little pressure all year

I thought it was one of the county forest preserve lakes in the Chicago area on the "opener." In comparison, the trout ponds at outdoor shows are a quality experience. Oh well, everyone fishing shoulder to shoulder like that means fewer people bothering the smallmouths on the local streams. More for me.

Every time I cast into a Wisconsin trout stream, I acknowledge how fortunate I am to be able to do so. It's really a privilege.

This area truly is a special place. BigGrin
Even up in Alaska combat fishing happens for sockeye salmon at the Russian/ Kenai River Confluence. Turns out, lots of people like to fish!Confused

This is an older picture I found online, but still goes on today. Luckily it's tightly managed and regulated.
