Hippie stompers work VERY well with bluegills and crappie up in the Northwoods. I was up fishing this past weekend and had a great time on the surface mixed with lilly pads. Anyone else use trout flies to catch warm water species?

Sure! I also use hippie stompers, pink squirrels, to mention two flies popular in the Driftless, but I also catch a bunch on hare's ears, pheasant tail nymphs, and even Adams and other dry flies. |

I also use pink squirrels, Prince nymphs and pheasant tails but tie them about 18-24" from a popper. Have also caught crappie on caddis flies. Have not found a fly pattern for perch but bluegill and crappie sure like the above mentioned flies. |
