Amen, good Karma flowed! Shebs has it spot on with the lake run browns. I do also think the caudal fin is way more muscular and wide on lake run fish. That fish had the hatch mark type of black "spots" and was a Seeforellen adipose clipped lake run brown.

Unless you're talking about a different fish, that's not a clipped adipose lol

I wish I didn’t have a newb with me on Saturday, otherwise I may have joined you guys up there. Caught lots of fish in SE WI, Root was on fire, but if you guys ever want to fish the Kinnickinnic in Milwaukee, you can skip it. I literally saw a turd float by...

So... if I were to go to the Root... say Friday.

What sort of tackle would I need?

I'm thinking my light action rods with 8lb might not be enough?

They handle the biggest I get in the Driftless just fine, but am wondering if they'd be enough if I were to get something larger.

Have off Friday to go fishing and it's gonna be colder than it's been. Not sure I want to drive all the way up to NE WI or over to NE IA.

20+lb chinooks roam those waters, you'll probably want to beef it up a bit LOL

My set up for lake runners is a 6'6" medium ugly stik with 25 or 30 lb power pro, and 3/4 oz+ size 18 PM type spinners with a big old #4 3x treble with a brightly colored maxi jig tail...and i fish the superior tribs where the fish are smaller!

It definitely takes a couple hours to get used to casting it, but the last thing you want is to be outgunned when you do hook one of those monsters.
