After brook trout fishing headed to the Cannon. Light mist. We caught a few smallies on spinners but drifting worms was insane. We found one pool at the end where there was one fish per drift. Dylan had hit the pool with a popper and no luck. I was driving him nuts catching all the fish. Soon he was asking for a hook, split shots, and crawlers.

Best fish of the day. Did not measure but would guess 19" or so.

Beautiful carp. Fall colors I think?

Golden redhorse. Where were you all spring? Glad to have found you. I cannot wait to catch more of you soon.

Dylan and I got several goldens actually. It was neat to see the goldens and the big smallies side by side.

We pretty much found the honey hole. We did not move for a good 45 minutes. On fish after the next all drifting worms. All ripping out our drag and bending our poles in half. Good times!

Grilled brook trout for lunch tomorrow...

Mark, awesome fish. Those smallies must have put up quite a fight.

I agree worms product the best results but PM's are more fun IMO.

Well Luke Dylan casted to my same spot over and over. Caught one, that was it. Then he watched me get my pole bent in half ripping out drag with my drag set tight with 10# Power Pro. Every single drift was just like the last. I could just get to the same angle of the drift and do a sweep hook set not even needing to feel for a bite. I knew it would yield a fish. These smallies and carp significantly stronger than any browns I've ever caught. The tug is the drug. PMs just do not produce the same results. If you like to catch lots of fish and all kinds of fish drift on the bottom with worms. It's a no brainer. Also zero deep hooked fish. First twitch of the rod tip you set.

Went back to the Cannon on my way home from the Mayo. More smallies. No huge ones this time.

Also a beautiful 18" golden. Did you know the world record is 21.25"? Looking to break that.
