hoping for some tips or advice about waterfowl hunting near La Crosse, whether it be on the big river or somewhere inland(up to 30-40 miles away)

i grew up hunting around prairie du chien, but currently reside in onalaska, sans boat, and am hoping for some advice on general locations where i could at least have a hope of pulling the trigger a few times.

i don't have a boat so i'll be extremely limited in where i can hunt, but am used to pothole jumping and similar waterfowl hunting methods. i know goose island is popular. is there anywhere there i can hunt legally without a boat? what about the van loon wildlife area? does anyone have any experience wood duck hunting trout streams like hornby creek or other similar public access areas?

thanks for any help

I'll also be looking for places duck hunt. I'll try to do some research and asking around. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I've since hunted van loon and had success but it's a real b**ch getting to good spots.

also, points off of highway 35 produced a few dozen mallards and divers later in the season
