While fishing on Tuesday I ran into this in the stream:

An 8 point Buck that either died in the creek, or more likely was washed in there by the recent flood. This creek has high steep banks (up to 10 feet) with lots of large rocks and boulders. Perhaps he fell in and broke a leg. Although talking to family members who live in the area, it's possible he was shot by a poacher and limped to the creek to die.

A sad end to what was probably a fine buck just coming into the rut season.

I also had an encounter with these large draft horses on an Amish farm the day before.

These guys were huge. Six feet at the shoulders and probably tipped the scales around 2000 pounds. They were between me and the creek, so I crept along the fence giving them a wide berth. I walked right by them with as much as a look as I passed. About a half hour later I heard a funny sound behind me and was startled to see one of them just 10 feet away! He just looked at me with curious eyes for a minute, and then casually crossed the stream behind me.

Thank goodness for friendly Amish horses!
