Rain rain rain! What a crappy weekend for lake superior river fishing. Damn near every river looks like chocolate milk. We had to fight the Applefest traffic and head to the Brule for some semi-clear water that was RAGING fast. I did manage to catch a verry nice lake run brown though! [img] [/img] |

Yup. Unless theyre bleeding bad, I try to release most of the residents during the fall lake run season... Theres plenty of silver fish to eat. |

Nico made the journey to sasquatchistan last week. The fishing has cooled down quite a lot since the first push of lake run fish earlier in the month. And weve been putting on the miles trying to find some untouched water. The floods from the past years have ruined most of the good annual holes. [img] [/img] |

Brule river Brute! They say less than 8% of the migratory rainbow trout on this river are this big or bigger. I like those odds! [img] [/img] |

That's a great fish. Congratulations! |
“If the trout are lost, smash the state. More than any other fish, trout are dependent upon the ambience in which they are caught… At the first signs of deterioration, this otherwise vigorous fish just politely quits, as if to say, ‘If that’s how you want it…’”

Nice fish!
I think that picture pushed me over the edge. I need to make the drive and give it a try up in that area. The odds of a fish of that quality might be low, but they are higher than if I am sitting at home just waiting to go back to work...
