Tommy, Amanda, and I each got our limit of walleyes today on the Canyon River. The bite was red hot even though the river is high. We found the right spots and had incredible success. For each of us to get our limit of six was fantastic. When it rains it pours. it is opening weekend so I don't feel bad for keeping a limit. It was one of those magical days when everything simply comes together.

No bugs. Perfect weather. Hungry fish. Great company. Who could ask for more!

Some good eating, there! I don't know if there is a better-tasting freshwater fish than walleye, but it's tops on my list

Nice Walleyes! When they're actually biting its a lot of fun.

Anyone else caught a buffalo before? Truth be told this one was not fair hooked but I've caught them lip hooked on jigs before. This fish was easily 30lbs+. Photo does not do it justice. A complete beach ball. So thick.

Bigmouth buffalo are cool. Native and not as many as there used to be. The largest of the sucker family!

Did a half day at work yesterday and today. Here is today this am. The walleye have been eating like mad. Each fish had three or more minnows in their bellies. Also fun to catch a redhorse again. I had over a dozen walleye on the line but only four to net and one guy was way tiny.

Short nosed redhorse. Remind you of brook trout kind of? They are fun to catch. Pretty sure they will be spawning. Lots of drum too. One sprayed eggs all over me.

They fight like hell. I remember burning up a kids Zebco 202 when we hooked one in the Fox R. Fun fish. R

Took the day off. Decided to get on the walleye again since they seem to be so hot and the rain this weekend looks like it will change this river for a while. Same as I have been this week just dragging fathead minnows on the bottom.

Between Sunday afternoon, Monday morning, Tuesday morning, and a full day today to hand I've landed over two dozen. I don't think I've ever caught that many walleye in one week. THey are just STUFFED with minnows Some that I put on the stringer barfed up minnows just the way trout do with worms after a good rain. The fish get so upset being caught they barf themselves.

The Canyon has it all! I thought it was going to rain all day. I woke up and looked a the radar and decided to go for it. No rain. Just colder but the fish were biting!
