Wow. I was shocked by the 24" one caught just below the dam last year with the article in the RF Journal. I fished this area so much as a kid, never really got into any nice sized fish, and always seemed like any of the larger ones from lower Kinni were so skinny, not like that fish at all.

Yeah I'm kind of shocked too. I saw a guy catch a 20" once right directly below the dam with a big streamer but that's about it. Over three dozen trips in the canyon, nothing bigger than a 15 for me.
Support catch and eat fishing.

They're in there. Back in the mid-90s, I knew someone who hunted a 26" brown an entire summer before finally successfully landing it around Labor Day weekend...this was back in the mid-90s.

I searched the lower access several times last year to see if I could extract any bigger fish. I rolled one that went about 16" but that was about it!

I enjoy fishing the Kinni but I haven't cross paths with any big fish either, though it seems like one pops up every few years.

While there are a few big ones in the lower kinni...most people would agree other streams around the area you have a better chance at getting a big fish. The upper part of the Kinni your chances are even lower though my trout buddy caught a 20 incher two seasons ago on a top water bass lure right before dark between County J and JJ. That same year he showed me another big fish near that same area that was just a bit bigger than the one he caught. He tried for it a couple of times but could never get it.

Couldn't agree more. Fish Kinni for action not size.
